Product introduction

Application:

The watertight fibre-optic hybrid flexible cable is suitable as the connecting cable for underwater vehicles and similar equipment, and can also serve as a tether or umbilical for subsea operations, ocean monitoring, oil exploration, underground pipelines and downhole work.

Cable construction:

- 3 power cores, 6.0mm² (10AWG)

- 3 pairs, 0.34mm² (22AWG), for signal transmission

- 2 single-mode fibres

Conductor: stranded oxygen-free copper, to VDE 0295 Class 6

Insulation: PE / FEP

Armouring: steel tape armour

Shield: tinned copper braid, coverage ≤85%

Wrapping: non-woven tape

Inner jacket: PUR (black)

Strength member: Kevlar braid (200 kg)

Outer jacket: PUR (orange)

How is a watertight fibre-optic hybrid cable made? The cable combines power transmission with high-performance signal transmission in one construction and provides high information throughput and high-speed data capability. Kevlar is used as the tensile strength member, with breaking force up to 1T, so the cable is not damaged by excessive pull during retraction. A dispensing machine continuously fills water-blocking gel to meet horizontal and vertical watertightness and buoyancy requirements. The cable resists tension, kinking, oil and ageing, and can be reused, meeting the requirements of current-generation underwater equipment.
