Product overview

The robot joint cable is a small-diameter multi-core composite cable developed for industrial robots and pipeline robots. Model PDK71300-4×20AWG+8×24AWG+STP CAT6-200KG integrates power cores, control signal cores and one shielded twisted data pair within a single jacket, and is intended for energy transfer and signal return in confined locations that move back and forth continuously, such as robot arm joints and pipeline inspection heads. The product is manufactured to GB/T 5023-2008 and the corresponding internal technical requirements; conductor, insulation, shield, reinforcement and jacket materials follow the specification sheet. The cable passes through cabling, braid reinforcement and jacket extrusion, balancing flexibility with tensile capability so that it can be laid with repeated bending at a small radius.

Construction and materials

The cable has a layered composite construction: the power and control cores are cabled into a core, the data pair is shielded separately and then incorporated, and filler, a reinforcement braid and a thermoplastic polyurethane outer jacket are added in turn.

  • Conductor: the power cores use bare copper with a cross-section of 0.5mm² and a stranded construction, stranded diameter 0.91 ± 0.04 mm; the control cores and data pair cores have a cross-section of 0.2mm², stranded, stranded diameter 0.61 ± 0.04 mm.
  • Insulation: the power cores use PE insulation with an average thickness of 0.35 mm, minimum point 0.3 mm, insulated diameter 1.6 mm; the control cores and data pair have an average insulation thickness of 0.2 mm, minimum point 0.17 mm, insulated diameter 1.0 mm.
  • Shield: the STP CAT6 data pair uses a composite shield of aluminium foil plus tinned copper wire braid to suppress external interference and stabilise signal quality.
  • Filler: PE rods fill the interstices of the core so that the cable section is round and the structure stable.
  • Reinforcement: a braid of 16 × 3000D LCP fibre acts as the strength member and raises the tensile performance of the cable.
  • Outer jacket: TPU, black, average thickness 2.0 mm, minimum point 1.7 mm, finished diameter 13.7 ± 0.3 mm.

Key features

  • Temperature performance: the rated range covers both low-temperature start-up and long-term high-temperature operation, which suits workshops, outdoor sites and pipelines; values are given in the electrical performance section.
  • Tensile capability: with the LCP braid reinforcement the cable reaches a high tensile strength and can be used for vertical or long runs that carry part of their own weight.
  • Bending performance: the minimum bending radius is set as a fixed multiple of the cable diameter and meets the cyclic bending duty of joint locations.
  • Jacket performance: the TPU outer jacket resists abrasion, oil and tearing, which suits long-term contact with moving parts.
  • Weight: low weight per unit length, which helps keep the machine light.

Electrical performance

  • Rated voltage: 300/500V.
  • Conductor DC resistance: at 20 °C the maximum DC resistance is 37.4 Ω/km for the power conductors and 84.1 Ω/km for the control core and data pair conductors.
  • Temperature rating: -40 °C to +105 °C.
  • Minimum bending radius: 20D (D = cable diameter).
  • Tensile strength: 5000 N, shared by the LCP braid reinforcement.
  • Reference weight: about 187 g/m.
  • Finished diameter, jacket thickness and insulation thickness are given in the construction and materials section.

Typical applications

  • Industrial robot joints and manipulators: as the follow-motion power and signal return cable at the joint, handling high-frequency reciprocating bending.
  • Pipeline robots: video, signal and power transmission for pipeline inspection equipment, and can be combined with other functional cores.
  • Inclinometers and similar instruments: the small-diameter multi-core construction suits bores or instrument internals with limited diameter.
  • Industrial automation equipment: for moving power, sensing and control circuits that need an abrasion-resistant jacket and tensile reinforcement.

Customisation and selection

  • Core count, cross-section, shielding method, jacket material and jacket colour can all be customised.
  • The reinforcement can be LCP braid or aramid fibre braid; the tensile grade is marked by the KG value in the model suffix. Besides the grades listed above, a 500KG version is available, selected according to equipment weight and towing duty.
  • The cable can be combined with coaxial video lines, twisted data pairs and optical fibres to form a multi-media integrated cable.
  • Standard print marking is the PAIDE cable name, specification, production date and metre marking.
  • Unless stated otherwise, length units are mm; specific dimensions and electrical parameters are subject to the specification sheet.
  • At selection, confirm the minimum bending radius of the equipment, the reciprocation frequency, the ambient temperature and the tensile requirement together; samples and technical data can be supplied on request.
